This session walks through the three most common billing structures in luxury residential design (hourly, fixed sum, and hybrid) along with alternatives like percentage of project, design packages, and hourly blocks, using the same 3,000-square-foot project to show how the math compares across each. Laura and Melissa share the fee schedules, retainer, and invoicing practices behind nearly twenty years of hourly billing at Laura U Design Collective, and why they recommend it to most luxury firms. Designers leave knowing how to choose the right method for their clients and projects, and how to talk about their fees with clarity and confidence.
